Before you sign with anyone
Six questions to ask both firms.
Ask these on the first call. The answers separate a bookkeeping vendor from a finance team.
- Who reviews my financials before I see them, and where are they based? You want a named controller, not a queue. Indinero's controllers are U.S.-based and review every close.
- What happens to my team when I raise a Series B, add an entity or pass $30M?If the answer involves a new firm, you are buying a bridge, not a partner.
- Can payroll, tax and the books come from the same people?Headcount is most of a startup's burn. If payroll lives elsewhere, your runway forecast is always a month behind.
- Do I have to change my vendors to work with you? Some plans require an approved stack. Know that before you migrate.
- Show me what I'll actually look at each month.A PDF of statements is a record. A view of burn, runway and what changed is a decision tool.
- When I email you on a Tuesday, when do I hear back?Slow replies are the most common reason founders leave an accounting firm. Indinero's commitment is 24 hours or less on every client message, and it is in writing.

FAQ
Questions founders ask when comparing.
Is Kruze or indinero better for a seed-stage startup?
Both work with seed-stage companies. Kruze requires that you are a Delaware C-corp with at least $500K in venture funding and focuses on accounting, tax and R&D credits for that profile. Indinero has no funding requirement, adds payroll and CFO advice from the same team, and keeps working with you past Series B, through $30M in revenue and an audit. If you are VC-backed and want a CPA firm that serves only companies like yours, Kruze fits. If you want one finance team for the whole journey, or you are not VC-funded, Indinero fits.
Does Kruze work with bootstrapped or owner-led companies?
Kruze's published criteria are venture-backed Delaware C-corps that have raised at least $500K. Bootstrapped, owner-led and PE-backed companies are outside that profile. Indinero works with all of them, alongside venture-backed startups.
How does pricing compare?
Kruze publishes bookkeeping tiers on its pricing page: Basic at $650 to $850 per month, Founder Timesaver at $850 to $1,500 per month, and Premium on request, plus a one-time onboarding fee per entity. Tax, CFO and R&D work are quoted separately. Indinero quotes per engagement after a scoping call, based on transaction volume, stage and the services you choose, on month-to-month terms; starting points are on the Pricing page.
Does indinero handle payroll, R&D credits and 409A valuations?
Yes. Payroll runs with the same team that keeps the books, so headcount changes show up in the close and the runway forecast. R&D tax credits and 409A valuations are available when you need them. Kruze offers R&D credits and 409A valuations; payroll is not listed among its services.
What happens when we pass Series B or $30M in revenue?
With indinero, nothing changes except the work: the same team moves you from QuickBooks to NetSuite, adds a controller-led consolidated close across entities, and prepares you for an audit or a transaction. Kruze's stated range is pre-seed to Series C, with multi-entity consolidation and multiple currencies on its Premium plan.
Can we switch from Kruze mid-year?
Yes. Indinero takes your QuickBooks file, prior returns and the last 12 months of statements, reconciles prior periods, runs one close in parallel with your current firm, and then takes over. Average onboarding is 18 days, and tax deadlines move onto indinero's calendar as part of the handoff.
Where does this comparison come from?
