Continuity through staff changes

When your finance person leaves, the knowledge stays.

In many nonprofits, the finance process lives with one person. When they move on, the knowledge goes with them, and in our experience a new hire can take three to six months to get up to speed.

  • Manual steps and spreadsheets that only one person understands
  • A QuickBooks Desktop file no one else knows how to run
  • No one to cover the close, payroll or grant reports while you hire

Your finance playbook

Your close checklist, grant schedules and policies are documented in the Exchange, not in one person's inbox.

The work keeps running

Your indinero team keeps the close, reconciliations and reporting on schedule while you hire.

Your indinero team works in the Exchange, our client platform. You see the same numbers, checklists and reports they do, every month, and you can ask a question from any screen. The screens below show our demo workspace for Cedar Learning Initiative, a tutoring nonprofit.

Audit preparation

Walk into audit season ready.

Every schedule your auditor asks for is tracked all year, with an owner and the evidence.

Donor and board updates

Updates donors and boards understand.

A monthly update in your own brand with the program split. You approve it before it goes out.

Advice beyond the report

Ask a question with the numbers attached.

Message your controller or CFO advisor from any screen, with the figures you are looking at attached.

Grant preparation

Make a stronger case in a tougher funding climate.

With funding tighter and more organizations competing for grants, funders look closely at how every dollar will be used.

Your indinero team prepares the financial sections of your applications from your books: the project budget, how resources are allocated and your financial position. Your nonprofit CFO advisor reviews each section before you submit.

  • Project budgets tied to your actual costs
  • Indirect costs at your real administration share or the funder's rate
  • Restricted grants tracked and reconciled monthly
Client story

Finance support with a nonprofit eye.

Dream Machine Innovation Lab launched in 2023 to bring changemakers together on poverty, prisons, pollution and polarization. With a team of ten or fewer, they needed monthly financials and program-level reporting without building an accounting department.

They're looking at it through a nonprofit eye because the people working on my account specifically have nonprofit expertise.

FAQ

Questions nonprofit leaders ask.

Don't see your question? Our nonprofit team is happy to talk it through.

How is pricing set?

Pricing depends on the scope you choose and the volume of work. After we review your books and workload, we send a written proposal with the scope and the price, so you know what to expect before you decide.

We still use QuickBooks Desktop and spreadsheets. Can you work with that?

Yes. We start from where your books are today, document how the work gets done and move it onto a repeatable monthly process that you can follow in the Exchange.

Do you help with our Form 990?

Yes. Your tax specialist supports Form 990 preparation, and the functional expense detail for Part IX comes straight from your monthly books, allocated and reviewed every month.

How do you keep our financial data secure?

indinero is SOC 2 compliant. Your records, reports and conversations with your team are kept in the Exchange, our client platform, so they stay with your account when staff change.

Can you guarantee more funding?

No. We help you explain your finances clearly and make a credible case for support. Donor and grant decisions depend on many factors, including your mission, outcomes and relationships.

How do we get started?

Tell us about your organization using the contact form. We will set up a conversation, review your books and workload, and send a written proposal with the scope and the price.

What do your donors and board need to know?

Tell us about your organization. We'll show you how indinero and the Exchange can help.

R&D Offer Quiz

Step 1 of 3

Answer to find out if you're eligible for R&D tax credits.

Do the activities performed relate to a new or improved business component’s function, performance, reliability, quality, or composition?(Required)
For Example: A mid-sized packaging company develops a slightly modified cardboard box design to improve its stacking strength (reliability) for warehouse storage, involving minor adjustments to the corrugation pattern to reduce collapse under standard weight loads.
Is your company trying to discover information to eliminate uncertainty concerning the capability or method for developing or improving a business component?(Required)
For Example: A furniture manufacturer investigates whether a cheaper wood adhesive can hold joints as effectively as the current one during assembly, testing bond strength to resolve doubts about its capability in standard production lines.
Do the activities performed constitute a process of experimentation?(Required)
For Example: An auto parts supplier runs a series of bench tests on different lubricant formulations to find one that reduces friction in engine bearings more effectively, systematically comparing wear rates over simulated operating cycles.
